Coco thought her life was going pretty well. Sure, doing PR for the Reaper's Game was a stressful job, but it was a niche she had carved for herself, and she was extremely successful at it. She made friends, and over time, she had developed the patience of a saint.
But she has just been unceremoniously dumped into a lake, and all bets are off. If she had at least a little warning, she could have avoided it and stopped short with the use of her wings, but this was a total surprise. For a moment, she is merely stunned. And then it hits her that she's somehow not in Shibuya anymore. That would have been forgivable, but her carefully selected Decora outfit is soaked. It was not made to get wet, so now it just feels really heavy and gross. And while she's still in shock, a giant dragonfly comes up to her.
She stares at it. Now, she's in a much better position than other girls her appearance to accept giant insects - it kind of reminds her of Noise, though not one that she's seen before. But then it opens its mouth to talk to her. And that is the last straw of weirdness that Coco can handle today. She never catches what it says. Because she bursts into tears.
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?!"
It'll be a while before she gets to the introduction at this rate - her dragonfly is scrambling to console her, but she is paralyzed with culture shock and fashion angst. She at least drags herself out of the lake to try and save her clothes. But her cries should be audible for miles. Not cool, Avalar. Not cool.
The clothes are definitely none he recognize, but the poor girl's soaked to the bone. ... Clearly a newcomer if Red ever saw one. He makes his way over with a concerned look, Pikachu clinging to his shoulder. "Uh... Miss?"
When he gets to her, she's already taken off most of her clothes in a desperate attempt to get them dry. ...Of course, since she was wearing layers and layers of stuff before, it really just means now she's dressed a little more normal. But she's still soaked like a drowned rat and sniffling. Coco turns toward the voice, wringing her hair out absently. The first thing she notices is Pikachu, because it's an unusual sight - a cute one though, that makes her eyes light up for a moment. The boy looks kind, too. They seem like they're here to help, so she'll just go right up to them.
"Oh my gosh, can you like, help me? I totally just fell out of the sky, for no reason! I'm like, not even kidding, it was sooo weird. And I don't know where I am and my outfit's totally ruined!" She whines, hoping to god they'll take pity on her. She doesn't know what she'll do otherwise. This is even weirder than dying - at least when that happened, she stayed in her own city.
Leaf knows how that feels, Coco. She, too, got unceremoniously dumped into the lake... although that's evidently normal. She just also had a giant monster to get saved by... and scare off her poor dragonfly. The latter's gotten used to the big water monster, and Leaf's riding her around the lake today. Gyarados love large water sources, and since there's no sea... well, it has to be the lake.
Leaf and her water dragon (who is, unfortunately, not actually a dragon-type) spot the poor thing at the same time, and in a valiant effort to quiet her down swim right over. Her Gyarados lowers its head to beside Coco, and Leaf gives a shy wave. Her hand's tight on her Pokémon's crown, because dammit she's still nervous about greeting people. She's not great at comforting people, either...
"Miss, please don't cry!" That's about as good as it gets for comfort. Leaf winces at her own awful words and clears her throat. "Are-- Are you okay, Miss?"
How did she miss the giant sea serpent in the lake? When it swims over, for a fleeting moment she thinks she's going to have to summon some Drake Noise and fight it off. Coco may be miserable, but not enough that she'd welcome being eaten. Seeing another young girl on top of the dragon at least settles that, though. She's even stunned so much that her tears stop for just a moment. ...But they resume when she tries to answer.
"I-I'm... like, not!" She sniffs. "Why d-did I fall in a lake?! It like, doesn't m-make any sense! I was in Shibuyaaaa!" And wails.
Gyarados are notoriously hard to find. And they were on the other side, anyway. Leaf winces at the volume and slides off of her Gyarados. She'll try to... To give the girl's back a few solid pats, since she'd feel weird rubbing it like her mom used to do for her when she was crying.
"I-It'll be okay, don't worry. Avalar's actually pretty nice... Um. That's what this world's called. This part of it, anyway. And we're in Summer Forest right now, where it's always summer..." Leaf's trying to stay calm, but a wibble edges into her voice. When other people are loud and crying, she almost feels like doing it herself. "Avalar's magic pulled you here, and there's no way to get back right now..."
Wait.
"N-No, I shouldn't have said that! I'm sorry! Um -- we're all working very hard to get home!"
Her Gyarados shakes its head behind her and slinks back into the water; Leaf is on her own for now. Plus it might help calm down the noisy one.
She seems to be calming down a little at the explanation, at least. Meanwhile, she'll just be removing her hoodie to wring the water out. It's really got a gross feeling. Her mood swings from despair to curiosity at the notion that they can't get home, but they're working on it.
"Huh? So like, what do we have to do to like, get home? I can totally help!"
[To say this had taken some getting used to would be... a vast understatement.
The last thing Chou remembered, he was napping on the couch in the Velvet Room, waiting for Azami to come in and need something from him or Igor or Victor. And then suddenly he was awake as he got pitched forward, falling with a heavy flailing into the lake water.
Thankfully, he did know how to swim, so extracting himself hadn't been too difficult. The being-soaked-to-the-bone had been annoying, if not pressing, but the random, cheerful dragonfly that showed up had taken any attention he had towards that.
A quick look through the guidebook and fidgeting with the orb, and he thinks he's got the hang of it. It's... definitely a strange thing right now, but it seems like it's definitely going to take him a bit to dry out, so he's decided to take a walk around, trying to see what all he can learn.
And all the while, the cheerful little blue dragonfly flits around, doing patterns in the air behind him.]
[There's a young woman passing through around this time, a violin case in her hand and an orb tucked under her other arm, a dragonfly trailing behind her.
She doesn't notice the teen at first, but when she does, the first thing he notices is that he's wet and and she definitely doesn't recognize him. She'll just. Go ahead and wave him down.] Ah, hello! Did you just get here?
[Still, he laughs, a light, almost airy sound as he tries to wring out his shirt again. His dragonfly does a little twirl behind him, coming to rest on the tip of the butterfly clip in his hair.]
The lake was more impressive, and his Golduck was obviously very fond of it judging by the way the creature dives in and out. Lucas himself doesn't like water that much. Neither does his purple dragonfly. He dislikes the insect even more actually, and he flicks the poor thing right into Donald's awaiting bill with a small laugh.
Stupid, pathetic little thing. That wiggles out of the Pokémon's mouth, only to have the same thing happen again.]
[He grabs the dragonfly the next time Donald spits it at him, studying the little guy. Like he hadn't heard her at first. But it's clear he has when he speaks. Even if he doesn't look at her.]
Why? I don't want it around, but if it keeps coming around I don't see a reason to stop.
It's here to help you. [She can sound so matter-of-fact about this! Mostly because it's kept her from drowning. A good friend to have.] It's a gift for being brought here, so... You should treat it nicer.
Secretly, that's kind of cool. So he lets it go and pats its tiny little head. Hey there guidebug. Donald comes up to meet the new girl too, hi there Kanto kid.]
If that's the case. [Oddly calm about being in a new world, yup. It's much louder than the Distortion World ever was, though it feels like Sinnoh to a point. Probably all the mountains. And the giant lake.] Is it like a Pokémon?
[An incredibly loud noise shatters the peace of the forest as the latest new arrival crashes into the lake's surface, sending its contents raining down in every direction. He sinks like a rock in the water, but leaps right out a moment later; a small tremor follows his subsequent landing. Shaking it off, he scratches the top of his head, thoroughly confused.]
Okay, that was not a pit of deadly lava. And this is not my castle. Where in the heck am I?
[Astute observations, huh? He looks around and spots some weird bug flying towards him, carrying a book. He squints at it for a couple of seconds while it just hovers there, then snatches the tome away. Ignoring the dragonfly's indignant cry, he opens the Guidebook and begins to skim through it. A sinister grin develops on his face as he reads, and eventually he slams it shut.]
Avalar... Gwa ha ha! Seems like a nice place! Bit too nice for my tastes, actually, but — heh — I'll make do. [He tucks the Guidebook away into wherever it is that he carries his stuff, along with the orb that insect had also seen fit to bring him, before setting off to properly explore the new world.]
[Better watch out, folks. The Koopa King has arrived.]
[He reminds her a lot of... A Dragonite, except meaner looking. And without wings. And with a shell. So maybe not so much a Dragonite, but maybe... Blatoise?
Without the giant water cannon. And the friendly face.
Leaf squares her shoulders and decides that she's going to talk to him. Definitely. First step to gaining confidence is approaching people you don't know!]
Um... Hello? [She's behind him and her voice is, unfortunately, lacking. Please hear her...] Sir? Er -- Miss?
[Oh, he heard her all right... but luckily for Leaf, he's feeling particularly magnanimous today, so he'll just pretend he didn't catch the 'miss'. He spins around 180 degrees then folds his arms as he looks down on the girl.]
[Dukemon stood by the edge of the lake he had recently pulled himself out of with all the dignity a wet Royal Knight could muster. He pondered over his current situation, not paying any attention to the dragonfly that had been there to greet him. The little insect was making noises that suggested that he was very disgruntled with the knight seemingly ignoring his existence
It finally had enough and smacked the knight with the guidebook it had brought. Dukemon didn't flinch but that finally brought his attention to the dragonfly and the book. Reading through it, his golden eyes narrowed behind his visor and he snapped it shut once finished.]
So I, Dukemon, have been called upon to save another world...
[Yeah, he's not too pleased with the situation right now; that being forcefully pulled out of his own world. The only silver-lining being he wouldn't be following Yggdrasil's order anytime soon.]
[ There's a young boy, about 14-15, brown (damp) hair with parted bangs and red eyes staring at -- well, you. It's the orb he's looking at of course, a confused look on his face. ]
Huh.
[ Confused, but entirely intrigued, too. He nods his head. ]
Hey?
[ Yep. Riveting content. ]
Scenario B
[ There's a guest joining the fish today at the Idol Springs- a huge, oversized turtle. A young boy sits relaxed near the water's edge, elbow resting on his knee and head against his hand. Sometimes, it looks like he's justwatching the water than anything in particular. Other times, the 5 foot creature can be seen, even on occasion sprouting waters from two cannon-like shapes on its back. Just up into the air above it because it can, letting it fall back down over it.
Or we can have this scenario happen at the Sunny Beach where not only one blastoise can be found, but also a large, giant panda...bear..thing known as a snorlax munching away at seaweed and fruit alike. It will be doing this for a while. ]
Scenario C
[ Or we have the good old scenario of 'I just appeared above a lake, now I am in the lake, now I am out and I am wet'. Jacket thrown off beside him, shoes and bag beside him, red and white balls around his waist are checked with a hand over them before the boy decides --
to rinse out his red hat.
And then his jacket and his t-shirt over the lake.
A little later, and that same boy has moved away from the lake and found a nice and quiet 'don't mind us we're just sitting here' spot, one of the us being a large orange lizarddragonlizard curled with its tail near to him. And his wet clothes.
This is important because there is a fire on that tail. Great work.
[... of course when Red takes another route, he ends up running across someone who apparently just got here.
Well, at least he might not have to play at being a one-man welcoming committee this time? Or at least, that was the game plan until Pikachu hopped off his shoulder to say hello to the Espeon and the Charizard.
[ Espeon's lids lift when the Pikachu comes over, the Charizard too taking an interest in the Pokemon that's come to join them, its long neck lifting slightly in a cautious but curious manner at the arrival of the electric rodent to the scene.
Red isn't so absorbed in his reading material to not notice all the movement. The familiar shape catches his attention, and the book is lowered so he can check it out. ]
Hey there.
[ Well, how do you do? Red grins, closing the book entirely at the visitor.
But what's all this excitement without another company? And that's a pair of yellow long ears peeking out from behind the Charizard's form, the sound of 'Pikachu?', and then a hop and - oh look, you got it. Another Pikachu. They were keeping away from all the wet and wet, but this little one can sense a fellow walking battery nearby any day. ]
