Red sighed, then murmured. "We used to be friends, though. But don't you see? This is why we need to talk. Green, I... I don't just want to be rivals anymore. I want to be friends... like we used to be..."

Red wasn't entirely certain how he was managing to keep himself together, but it was getting harder and harder to do as he kept talking and he knew it wasn't hard to tell, not with the desperation that began edging into his tone at the end.

"Listen to me." Because Green doesn't have to fall for that desperation, not if he shuts his heart to it like the cruel bastard he is. "You've taken everything from me. Don't expect me to ever come crawling back to you."

"Do you think I knew what was happening...?" Well, whether Green shut his heart to it or not, the desperation was still there and growing with each word. The black-haired boy took an unsteady breath, his shoulders shaking. Red forced his head down so Green wouldn't have to see it... but it was obvious what was happening. Tears had begun streaming down Red's face.

"I didn't... I never knew... Y-you know as well as me that I'm not smart like you... a-and I'm oblivious to what happens more than half the time anyway... The only time I'm alert and focused is when I'm battling... I'd never realized..." He choked on a sob he'd been attempting to stifle. All Red wanted was the friendship between him and Green back.

"Look, don't--" Green swallows, his throat suddenly closing a little. "Don't- be stupid. Don't embarrass yourself, okay? Let's just figure out what the fuck just happened. Stop- stop crying."

He inhaled sharply, bringing an arm up to wipe away the tears. "R-right." He inhaled a few times, calming himself down. "Let's go over what we already know first."

Green turns away from him, fishing in his pocket for his glasses case. While the outside is wet, the inside is perfectly dry, and he jams his glasses onto his nose before opening the book. "This- should help us, right?"

Red looked over Green's shoulder. "Probably." Crimson eyes scanned the table of contents, looking for anything useful.

"... And I guess it can help us figure out where to stay in the meantime..."

He's just a little thrown by Red peeking over his shoulder. After a pause, he says gruffly, "open your own. And that's what I'm thinking. I don't need anywhere too big."
