[And now he's forgetting her birthday? She shouldn't feel as hurt as she does, considering his usual attitude... She busies herself with wringing out her hair and her clothes.]

Eleven. I just turned it a few months ago, before I left Pallet Town. [She glances up and -- he looks older. That's different. She catches herself staring and looks at her feet instead, frowning.] Just like you, right? You always teased me for being younger.

OH REALLY... WITH WHO....

[releaf]

[She follows him quietly, tucking her legs beneath her when she sits. Her hands lay in her lap, just like her mother always taught her, and she pats her wet skirt while she thinks of an answer.]

He called me puny. [Which, well, she is.] But he also said I was really something else... I mean, special. So I think that means he's doing okay. He scared me when I met him though, and he was really tough to beat.

[Even with her type match up of her Venasaur versus his electric-type Pokémon!]

((He's startled out of frozen-ness when she starts wringing out her clothing, and he rushes closer to help out, taking off his own dry jacket to offer to her.))

... right. I... guess this is part of the magic or something, but... I just turned 14.

I think he calls a lot of people that. [He digs his lunch out of his bag, frowning in concentration as he tears a sandwich in half. He offers the larger portion to Leaf.] It's nice to hear he's doing okay, though. He gave me a bit of trouble when I battled him, too.

[ooc: Amy/Leaf (vinetrip, Rosa (subharmonics), Elena/May (powerleveling), Alessa/Crystal (firstgirlwins)... I'm probably forgetting a few people, but mostly them!]

WOW I'VE PLAYED WITH ALL OF THOSE AT LEAST ONCE, I THINK? MAYBE.

[She takes it and digs in right away -- stopping to actually chew and swallow.]

He's not a lieutenant for nothing, I guess! I wonder what it was like to serve in a war...

[ooc: The first one I've played against any of yours that comes to mind is Beta Blue (betabangs) since she's my favorite, haha... Ethan (tidaldrum) is another I throw around a lot too.]

[Leaf's so shocked at the number that she takes the jacket without any remarks towards his ... really nice behavior.

Well. Now she really is younger than him, and not just by a few months.]

Part of the magic... [Well, she kind of figured they weren't in Kanto anymore. It just cements it.] Um... Happy birthday, or three, I guess.

Yeah, we're not in Kanto anymore. This is Avalar. ((It's a belated announcement, and he scrubs a hand through his hair before huffing a little laugh and giving her a genuine smile.)) Thanks.

... so basically, this place is losing magic or something so we're helping out. The place sort of dragged us here. Because... magic.

I don't think it'd be very fun. Wars are pretty bad, after all... [He takes a bite of his own half, chewing thoughtfully.]

[ooc: Ohh, Beta Blue is super cute! And yeah, I've seen Ethan around too c: ]

[Eloquent as ever. Leaf frowns when he gives her a smile, because -- when was the last time she saw that? Instead of a smirk or a sneer or whatever it was.

It's not... it's not a bad thing, but it makes her confused. Still, he was older. Maybe he got nicer or something.]

I guess it's not the fake magic that magicians just use to put on shows, like illusions and stuff, huh? [Hm. In her opinion --] They shouldn't spend magic to bring people here if they're losing so much of it that they'd have to bring us here to help them.

[...It's said a little softly, but her Gyarados still laughs (?) behind her. Or, er, as much as it can laugh being... what it is.]

Think of all the people who'd get hurt... [And more importantly --] All of those Pokémon, too.

[She nibbles at her half now. The thought makes her stomach turn a little.]

I'm glad Kanto's mostly peaceful now, though.

[ooc: I actually considered apping her here, before I thought about Leaf... Maybe some other time.]

Yeah, definitely.

[An awkward pause hangs in the air after that, so he decides to change the subject.] So how much of Kanto did you see before you got brought here?

[releaf]

Not a lot. I've been to Viridian City, Pewter City, Cerulean City, and Vermillion City... The guards at Saffron City wouldn't let me through, and I only just got my Thunder Badge. I was going to try and find a way around to Celadon City afterwards...

[According to her town map, that really isn't a lot of Kanto at all.]

What's Mt. Silver like?

... Weird, I had that same problem trying to get to Saffron. I ended up going through Rock Tunnel to Lavender Town. There's an underground passage that leads to Celadon City from there.

Mt. Silver... It's big. And cold. There's a lot of tough Pokemon there, too--a lot are native to Johto.

[releaf]

[She'll have to remember that when she gets back home.]

I see. [Johto... It's weird to think that there's an entirely different region not too far from Pallet Town.] You must be really strong if you hang around there.

Lucas | Pokémon Platinum

[With Nala, his Luxray, by his side, Lucas was rather confident in his surveying of Hurricos. He had so far figured out that he was no longer in Sinnoh and had done a bit of exploring that had ended him up here in this stormy area. He seems completely unbothered by it too, simply holding onto his hat as the rain pours down around him and ignoring the dragonfly buzzing about him so eager to escape the water. His feline friend switches between racing after the mice and sticking at his side with electricity sparking through her fur and across the ground.

The robots are pretty cool though. Ooooh. The Electrolls are not.]

[Leaf is lucky; her Venasaur is great protection from things that'd like to do her harm, as well as from the rain. She walks beside her giant umbrella beast, listening to the rain pouring on its leaves, and ... there's a boy. In the rain.

She motions her Pokémon towards him and make their way quickly. Have some protection?]

You looked, um, like you'd catch a cold. [Leaf scoots closer to her Venasaur.] You don't mind, do you?

[He does mind, but Nala seems to like the presence of the weirdo beast too much for him to say so.]

Marginally. The tagalongs don't seem to mind it, though, so I'm outnumbered in opinions. [Yes, yes they are pretty grateful. Hello.]

Well, I guess it's a last-ditch attempt kind of thing? ... we can talk about this later. You need to dry up. ((Not that he's protective or anything... but he's protective.))

[releaf]

[She still feels like he's gonna go SIKE, JUST KIDDING about being nice, but she's not going to look a gift Rapidash in the mouth.]

I'm fine. [She hopes she sounds reassuring enough. She doesn't think so, so she'll just... reinforce it.] I wrung most of it out?

[It shouldn't be questioning but, well, it's Leaf.]

((Right. No.)) Come on. You can crash at my place. ((His tiny, messy, one-bedroom place. It'll work out somehow. He taps her on the head once before beckoning for her to follow as he heads in the general direction of his house.))

I'm sorry. [She didn't mean to trouble him, she was just trying to help...] If you don't mind me asking, um... What are you doing all the way out here?

[releaf]

[Hey, wait, she didn't say she would --

Leaf sighs and returns her Gyarados, following him without a word. She concentrates on remembering as much of the way as she can; she wants to be able to get around on her own, after all.

It's easier to be quiet too.]

Well. Uh. I guess? [His face colors a little. He doesn't like bragging.] I don't really like bragging or showing off or anything...

Looking around. [Obviously. Having been to a separate world already, it wasn't so far-fetched to him that he wouldn't be in the same world he was in before.] I was thinking about taking residence here in return for taking care of their thieving problem.

That's really nice of you. [There seemed to be a lot of trouble around, actually...] You should think about getting an umbrella or something... If they have those here, I mean... Unless the weather clears up?
